Operate-a-loco
trips - reserve one online
The New Hope Valley Railway Operate-a-loco
program puts you in the engineer's seat at
the control of one of our diesel-electric or
steam locomotives. Now reserving these
opportunities is even easier because you can
book a time and date online.
Participants will practice the safe
operation of a locomotive for about one hour
with supervision from one of our qualified
engineers.

Site
and Facilities Updates
Site and
grounds improvements are being made for the 2010
season to
accommodate train passengers loading and unloading
to our excursion cars safely in the infield
and near displays such as the Southern RPO-baggage
car, Pullman troop car, or a historic caboose. Also under
construction is a new relocated ticket booth.
This ticket booth will enable us to better
serve customers arriving at the site from
the parking area and improve crowd flow.

Volunteer Opportunities
The winter maintenance season is over but
building the growing NC Railway Museum and New Hope
Valley Railway happens year round. Recently we
installed new communication, and electrical lines to new distribution points on the
property and we continue to build, restore, and
maintain our historic cars, passenger excursion
cars, and the site facilities. We
invite you to join us - become a member and help us preserve the equipment, artifacts, skills, and traditions of railroading.
