New Hope Valley Group Rides

Everyone enjoys a ride on the railroad, so get your group together for a weekday visit with us in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Bookings are available for:

School Field Trips
Tour Groups
Senior Groups
Clubs and Organizations

Group Ride Trains are diesel powered and operate on the third Friday of each month from May to November. Trains leave the Bonsal Depot promptly at 10:00AM on the day of the ride.
Groups must book in advance by calling the agent on duty at the Yard Office (919-362-5416) any Saturday, Sunday, or Wednesday at least two weeks before the day you wish to schedule.
The fare for any group is $50.00 or actual ticket prices ($10 adult/$7 child) whichever is greater.
A non-refundable advance payment of $50.00 is required to hold your reservation.
This deposit is deducted from the actual fare to be paid on the day of the ride.

Birthday party at the Railway

Have a special party for that railfan in your life! Our vintage 1913 caboose is available for rent as a party room for birthdays and other events. All you need do is bring along the party favors, decorations, refreshments, cake, and the guest of honor, and the rest is just pure fun!

The caboose rents for $75 for the first two hours, and $25 per hour thereafter.

Book in advance by calling the agent on duty at the Yard Office (919-362-5416) any Saturday, Sunday, or Wednesday at least two weeks before the day you wish to schedule the party.
Party booking slots are at 10:00AM, 12:00PM, and 2:00PM.
Tables and chairs are already in the caboose for your use.
Caboose is not part of the regular train, and does not move during parties.
Train ride tickets are available at regular ticket prices ($10 adult/$7 child) if your party is booked on one of our scheduled Ride Days.

New Hope Valley Charter Trains

Would you like an entire train all to yourself? Charters are available on the New Hope Valley Railway on just about any weekend May through November. Charter trains are great places for parties, family gatherings, club functions, or just a comfortable ride in the woods. Charter trains can be operated any time within daylight hours except operating times on public ride days.

Groups must book in advance by calling the agent on duty at the Yard Office (919-362-5416) any Saturday, Sunday, or Wednesday at least two weeks before the day you wish to schedule.

Cost of a diesel powered charter train is $450.00 or actual ticket prices ($10 adult/$7 child) whichever is greater. A non-refundable advance payment of $180.00 is required to hold your reservation. This is deducted from the actual fare to be paid on the day of the ride.

The steam locomotive is available on Saturdays and Sundays, May through November, with 30 days notice. Cost of a steam powered charter train is $625.00 or actual ticket prices ($10 adult/$7 child) whichever is greater. A non-refundable advance payment of $180.00 is required to hold your reservation. This is deducted from the actual fare to be paid on the day of the ride.
